Dear Friends and Colleagues of Andy Hurley,
Many of you have been following Andy's journey since his diagnosis in January 2024 with a grade 4 Glioblastoma, the most aggressive type of brain tumour.
Andy’s treatment began with brain surgery at the JR Oxford Hospital, where surgeons successfully removed 80% of the tumour. Following this, he underwent a long course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy to control its growth. Sadly, an MRI in November revealed that the tumour had grown again and spread.
In light of these developments, Andy has been fortunate to enrol in a new pioneering treatment called "Modulated Electro - Hyperthermic Treatment (MEHT) at the University College London Hospital.
The program is led by Dr Paul Mulholland, a world-renowned and leading expert in Glioblastoma research and treatment. Paul has seen some significant success with the procedure, but the length of time it may take is unknown. https://www.uclh.nhs.uk/our-services/find-consultant/dr-paul-mulholland
Andy will attend the Hospital in London three days a week which completes one session. We believe he will need at least 6 sessions maybe more we just dont know at this point.
While this innovative treatment offers new hope, it is only available Privately and NOT funded by the NHS. Andy will continue chemotherapy alongside this treatment, and all funds raised will go directly toward ensuring the continuation of this vital care for as long as needed.
We hope Andy’s friends, colleagues, and supporters will come together during this critical time. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in helping Andy access this life-saving treatment. Your generosity and kindness mean the world to him and his family.
Thank you for continuing to stand by Andy and support him through this incredibly challenging journey.
Your love, care, and contributions are deeply appreciated.
