Support for Ashley and Cody after loss of their baby

My sister Ashley and her husband, Cody, have suffered a tragic loss when their infant daughter Mae died suddenly Friday morning.

For those of you that know Ashley and Cody, they were about to welcome their daughter Mae next month. Ashley was 35 weeks pregnant and due in July.

Cody works a full-time job to take care of their family, while Ashley stays at home to care for their other daughter Freya. Freya has muscular dystrophy and is almost 3 years old. Ashley ensures she gets to all her doctor and therapy appointments. She provides all her care on a daily basis. Ashley also has a 12-year-old daughter, Annalee.

On June 20th, Ashley contacted her OB concerned because she had not felt any movement from baby Mae since the previous day. Ashley went into her doctor’s office to get checked out. Once there, they were not able to find the baby’s heartbeat with the doppler, so they took Ashley for an ultrasound. Ashley received devastating news that baby Mae no longer had a heartbeat on the ultrasound. They transported her to Maury Regional Hospital to be induced. Cody left work and went to the hospital to be with Ashley.

On the morning of June 21st, 2024, at 4:51 am, Ashley gave birth to Mae. It was discovered at that point that poor baby Mae had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck three times and that was the cause of her death.
