Support for Baby Cinder and Her Family

Meet Cinder Anaya Sage St. Clair, born January 3rd, 2020. However, her due date was March 4th. On January 2nd, it was discovered she had an intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), caused by a placenta that didn't form correctly. Mom was admitted, with the intent to keep constant monitoring on her, in the hopes that they could wait to induce. Unfortunately, her vitals kept dipping, and she was brought to us through an emergency C-section. In spite of being a GA of 31 weeks, her size was more in line with a 25 week old, and came in at 1 lb, 10 oz. She was taken to the NICU with high hopes.

During her first week in the NICU, Cinder fared well, gaining weight every day, and reaching her early milestones. During that time, the doctors decided to run tests on her placenta and blood to try to find the cause of the IUGR. 10 days after her birth, the results came in, and with them, our first shock. Cinder has Trisomy 21, or Down Syndrome.

Naturally, we were devastated. However, we'd hardly begun to process this news when the next hit came. Cinder also has ASD and VSD, which are holes in her heart which cause back flow in her blood stream, which is causing fluid buildup around her lungs. The size of the VSD means she will more than likely need open heart surgery to correct it. This caused her breathing to become more labored, and the extra calories burned brought her weight gain almost to a halt, in spite of calorie supplements in her breast milk. If things don't begin to turn for the better, she will need surgery much sooner than expected, which will limit her survival chances.

Our family has no car at this time, due to a repossession, which makes visiting more difficult. Also, there has been a lot of work missed by dad (me). I have been unable to take personal time from work, and no chance of pay when I miss work. We want to be by Cinder's side all day, every day, but with limited transportation (and what transportation we can get going towards commuting to work), it's not always feasible. We've also fallen behind on many bills. Which is where this page comes in, I suppose.

Help with our situation would benefit everyone involved, from Cinder, to mom and dad, to our other children: Zylla (8), Urijah (8, not twins), and Faline (2). Having transportation would be our first goal, while working to catch up on the bills a close second. If dad loses his job, everything will fall apart very soon afterwards. Mom does not get to visit Cinder more than once every week or two. Any support will be greatly appreciated, and we could never thank anybody enough for helping in our time of need.

We want our baby to be healthy, and we want her to come home as soon as possible. In the meantime, we want to be able to be there as much as possible, so our daughter isn't alone in there. Any help in reaching this goal would be met with unending gratitude.
