Support for Beatty Family & Love to Karen Beatty

Karen Beatty passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on May 30th from heart complications. This loss has created a ripple of sadness for family, friends, students and a much larger community.
Karen was a Second Grade teacher in Moorpark, California. She spent 24 years as a well respected and caring educator. Karen was the primary financial provider for herself and her husband Ben Beatty. She was also a major caretaker for her mother Beverly who lives nearby in Camarillo. Karen is the mother of two beautiful children Jessica and Christopher, she also has a wonderful son-in-law Emmanuel.
Many people have already reached out to ask, “How can we help?”. The Beatty family needs to know that during this time of incredible loss, the community can step-up to help both emotionally and financially. Here are some of the expenses we expect over the next few weeks:
-Funeral/Death/Emergency expenses are likely to cost more than $10,000
-Husband Ben needs fairly immediate help with insurance/medical expenses and other bills.
-We need to make sure grandmother Beverly has the care and support she deserves.
-Travel expenses to and from Ventura County for Jessica, Chris and Emmanuel.
-It is likely that Ben, Jessica, Chris and Emmanuel will miss quite a lot of work. Jessica has decided that she will not be able to teach science at Aim High this summer in Oakland.
-Other expenses like gas, food, supplies, etc.
-Mental health care (likely ongoing)
Our Goal - To come together and help raise more than $25,000 over the next two weeks. We have the collective ability to support the Beatty family financially and show our love/condolences. Although money will never take away the insurmountable pain, these resources are essential to provide the family with both time and comfort while they mourn the loss of an incredible wife, mother, friend and mentor.
We are asking you and your family to donate as much as you can afford.
