Support for Becky Hamber and family

Hi, my name is Brandy Cooney. I am Becky Hamber’s wife. In the last few months, Becky’s health has declined leaving her unable to do even the smallest things such as gardening. She was diagnosed with Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria (life long disease) and on the road to discover a hidden illness that doctors have not yet figured out.

She possibly has a mast cell issue.

The doctors have told her to stay as safe as possible which means she is unable to work, unable to go into stores or restaurants, and can only be outdoors at minimal amounts of time.

Becky is currently on three different medications. Just to try to settle all her symptoms, she has to take 20 pills a day (36 if you include all her supplements and inhaler) She also has four epipens on her body at all times as her condition is completely unpredictable and her reactions can be mild to severe at any given time.

These 20 pills are costing us $1200 per month. If she goes off any of them, she could die.

Before these conditons, Becky was able to work full-time. We are now a single income family. Becky has applied for Trillium but her current medications are still not covered.

For those that don’t know our family, we have two kids with high needs. We adopted them and later found out they have significant trauma needs from abuse and neglect.

We are also dealing with my dad and his ongoing health decline since a car accident. So we are also dealing with insurance companies, lawyers, and a ton of his medical appointments.

Needless to say we have a lot going on and unfortunately stress is a major trigger for Becky’s symptoms.

We have already re mortgaged and dipped into rrsp’s to cover medical bills and monthly living costs

A wee bit of financial help would at least alleviate some stress.
