*Glenn was taken off life support and passed away Wednesday (8/12/2020) afternoon at 3:30.
*Glenn Benzing is not normal. Those of us that know him know that he operates in the 99th percentile – for everything. O and I met when he came to Singer in 1984. We became friends and he was my fitness accountability and challenge partner; running for our Corporate Shield Team, regional biathlons and triathlons. His goal for each training event was to do better than last time – it was always wide open, crazy or stay on the porch. During the last decade, he shifted to mountain biking with building and maintaining the trails as his cross training.
*He is just as passionate about his electrical world of motor development, mentoring and sharing his craft. There are very few people in the world with his level of knowledge and experience in the design, development and manufacture of motors for our product categories. He loved creating the training curriculum and teaching the other teams involved in product development the value and importance of the motor and motor controls for their success.
*On July 7, daughter-in-law Beth posted the following which sums Glenn up nicely…”Glenn (also known as O, Pops, and Bop) is our very own superhero. He is a bike riding, trail-making, dessert baking friend to everyone.”
*As you probably know, Glenn was in a horrendous accident July 6 on Interstate 85. Severely burned, he is facing 4 to 5 months in ICU at the JMS Burn Center in Augusta, GA.
