Support for Beth Ann

Welcome to our GoFundMe page for Beth Ann Burgun. We so appreciate your kindness and consideration. Beth Ann needs us!
She was found to have a tumor (Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm or IPMN) blocking the main duct of the pancreas, inhibiting her absorption of nutrients, digestion of food, and regulation of glucose. Fortunately, the tumor was detected early and has been found to be precancerous. IPMNs can become malignant, and the tumor must be removed - it is blocking the bile duct and has caused the pancreas to atrophy.
Beth Ann will undergo a surgery (Whipple procedure) to remove part of the pancreas, the bile duct, duodenum/part of intestine, and gallbladder. Remaining organs will be reconnected to create a new pathway between the pancreas and the intestines. This is a major, traditional (open) surgery for which Beth Ann will travel to a specialist in Indianapolis. The procedure itself will take about four hours and post-op Bethany will spend time in the ICU. The hospital stay is estimated to take about one week; recovery in home will take about two months. During this time Beth Ann will receive in home health and/or hospice care, will not be able to drive, and will be learning how to digest food again.
Many beautiful people have offered to support the family at this time. The Burguns however could use financial support to cover the cost of medical expenses, transportation and lodging to/from the hospital in Indy, meal and grocery delivery, and costs related to childcare.
Of course, everybody can support the whole family, as well as Bethany's medical team of doctors and nurses, through the power of prayer. However, we especially thank you for your kindness and financial generosity and support.
