Support for Calabash Elementary Teachers on Strike

Our Calabash teachers are all on strike, fighting for the future of public education in LA. This is NOT about salary. This is about securing smaller class sizes and much needed support resources (librarians, counselors, nurses, etc) to ensure kids are getting the education and attention they deserve.
The teachers are fighting for our kids. Your kids. They're fighting for all our future public school teachers. Districts around the country are watching as education dollars continue to dwindle and teachers across the country are facing many of these same challenges. Our LA teachers are saying "ENOUGH". Our kids deserve more, and as taxpayers and voters we must demand more.
Meanwhile... this battle is being waged on the backs of our teachers. They are going without pay until this strike is over and this is a tremendous financial hardship for them. Many are single or married to other LAUSD teachers and have no income right now. They are sacrificing their paychecks to fight for better schools for our kids.
As of today, our 18 warrior teachers are out of pocket almost a full week of pay. As a community, it would be wonderful if we could wrap our arms around them as they fight for our kids. If you're able to contribute to this fund, we will divvy the money up equally across our 18 teachers and give them the money they need to help pay their bills. We set the initial goal at $18.5K with the hope of distributing $1K to all 18 teachers to help cover their week of lost pay. But any amount will help, even if we don't quite reach our goal.
So many parents are in support of our teachers, but can't be out on the picket lines. This is a way to help our Calabash teachers directly and ease a little of the financial burden.
They have not asked us to do this. We want to do this. We hope our Calabash family will rally, as it always does in times of crisis, and show our teachers we are behind them 100%. No amount is too small.
