Support for Carl Beintema and his family

Hi, my name is Jennelle and I am raising funds to help my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Carl (my brother-in-law) was in his barn working when it exploded on Friday, December 23, 2022. His wife, Ashleigh, heard the explosion and ran outside to help him. She was able to clear the debris off of him and pull him to safety out of the barn before a few more explosions went off. At this time we are not aware of what caused the explosion.

Carl was taken to the hospital where he will remain for quite a while. He has a long road of recovery ahead of him. He dislocated and broke his right shoulder. His left ankle is shattered but the doctors are fairly certain they were able to get a good blood supply to his foot to save it. Although we are still waiting for the surgery to repair the bones. The doctors are getting multiple opinions from specialists on the next best step for his right leg. His right leg is severely shattered and torn up from the explosion. The doctors are unsure if it can be fixed or if it will need to be amputated at the upper thigh. Since getting to the hospital he has been sedated so that his body may heal. His wife has been by his side every day and spends the night with their two daughters at my home. This family's life has been uprooted and changed forever.

Depending on what happens with his right leg will determine how long his recovery will be. We hope the doctors can save his leg but only if it is the best thing for him. Carl also has quite a few burns and open wounds from the explosion but doctors are certain these should heal well.

Ashleigh is a 3rd grade teacher in Allendale while Carl works as a plumber. Both of their works are figuring out what leave will look like for them. Will update once we are made aware.

While this all gets sorted out, I thought it would be beneficial to start raising money for them to help with bills that are going to start adding up. A majority of this money raised will go towards keeping Carl's health insurance active.
