Support for Cecily Huston

As I sit down to write this, I worry that my words will fall short. The truth of the matter is that Cecily needs our help. It is with great hope that I write to you all. For those who don’t know me, my name is Rachel and Cecily is my cousin and best friend. I could fill a novel with all the wonderful things I have to say about Cecily. She is a beautiful human inside and out: a loving wife and the most selfless mother. She has so much life to live and we are asking first and foremost for prayers and support for her and her family, especially her husband Geoff and their three young children.

As many of you know, Cecily has dealt with a few health obstacles over the past several months. Most recently, an MRI found what appears to be evidence of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (cancer of the bile ducts in the liver). This heavy news came the day before her 31st birthday. On 11/1, Cecily will undergo a liver resection where 50-60% of her liver will be removed in addition to her gallbladder and the surrounding lymph nodes. Biopsies will be performed post-op and if they confirm cancer she will have 6 months of chemotherapy. Cecily will need to be off work for at least 3 months regardless of the biopsy results (liver resection recovery takes 3-6 months on average and up to 1 year).

Multiple friends and family members have already expressed their desire to help the Huston family. Donations will be used to help pay for Cecily’s already growing medical bills as well as supporting their family while she is on medical leave.

Cecily will have a long road to recovery but her surgeon is confident and we are praying for a full recovery. Please continue to keep Cecily and her family in your prayers. Cecily has displayed such commendable faith, grace and strength throughout the last few weeks. She has been so touched by every supportive message/text she has received and is so appreciative of each and every prayer sent. Keep the prayers and love coming! We love you Cec!
