Support for Chai

Hi, we are Marina and Alik fundraising for our friend Christina and her amazing puppy Chai, who was rescued and has quickly become a member of our family.

Chai, at only 9 month old has been fighting an ongoing battle to save his life. A month ago, we noticed him limping and took him to get checked.

After conducting numerous tests, they noticed his bloodwork was coming back abnormal. While his little body was trying to fight through it, doctors couldn’t figure out the exact source. After a week of hospitalization and antibiotics, he was discharged to go home. Shortly after, his body became weak and we noticed his health deplete once again. His blood count had dropped to an alarming level. The vet suggested starting aggressive steroid therapy in hopes that his blood levels would stabilize. Successfully, they did but it was short lived. After a second opinion, they discovered an abscess on his back which had formed into a big lump. After an emergency surgery to remove the lump, we felt we can finally be at ease having to discover the root cause. We brought chai home and two days after, the surgical wound had become infected, leaving us to see a specialist. While caring for the wound, the specialist conducted more tests due to his unsuccessful physical exam. After receiving another hopeless answer to what could be the reason behind his sickness, we are back to square one with ongoing tests and no results. Chai has been fighting through for a month now, unable to walk, eat or play as he’s in grave pain.

With the vet bills continuing to pile up, we are asking for financial help in this difficult time, as further testing is required to find the cause of Chai’s illness.
