Support for Chris After a Tragic Motorcycle Accident
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, colleagues, and kind-hearted community,
I'm reaching out for support for my younger brother, Christopher, who was recently involved in a devastating hit-and-run motorcycle accident.
While riding home one night after visiting a friend, he was side-swiped by an uninsured motorcyclist who was driving under the influence and well over the speed limit. Brutally, the collision amputated Chris's left leg on impact a few inches below the knee. He was left there to arm crawl off the freeway until good Samaritans, the California Highway Patrol, and First Responders came to his aid.
In the first 11 days, Chris underwent 6 surgeries to save his knee and later went on to have two skin graphs. During his recovery, he will be unable to work for months, allowing his leg to heal and for him to be fitted for a prosthetic. Although Chris has both medical and auto insurance, expenses post-accident are mounting. Everyday tasks now take longer, and he faces physical limitations, including excruciating ghost pains. Additionally, there is a significant amount of bureaucracy to navigate, numerous phone calls to make, and new needs to address. He requires support to manage the emotional, physical, and financial challenges ahead.
I am proud to share my brother's positive attitude towards this whole experience. Just after his third surgery, he was making jokes about socks now being a two-for-one special. His room is on the second floor of his apartment, and he was adamant he could maintain his independence, even showing off one day that he developed a more efficient way to hop up the stairs. Chris is striving forward and smiles often.
Our family owes overwhelming gratitude to those who saved his life and the medical professionals who aided Chris during this ongoing recovery, from the freeway to the hospital and now home. I'd also like to extend thanks to everyone who has kept Chris in their thoughts and prayers. The network of support uplifts him as he navigates his new reality.
We're asking anyone reading this to help with a donation. Any amount will go a long way in assisting Chris as he adjusts to his new life and focuses on his recovery.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
