Support Cindy's Family & Animals After Her Tragic Passing
Donation protected
On Thursday November 21st, 2024, my mother, Cindy Hager (Unrein), passed away in Young, AZ in what I can only describe as 'freak accident'.
My mother was never one to ask for help; she only ever wanted to offer her help. This was what made her such an amazing nurse for over 30 years. She always told me that there were special people to bring you earth side and special people to return you and when she found hospice care she found her calling. Her care for others in their final moments always brought her a sense of peace; she was in her element.
Her love for people carried over to her love for animals. Though she had many different animals over the years from chickens to sheep to an amazon parrot that she kissed on the beak, her true passion was for horses (and if they were green they were even better). She was the happiest when she was riding and when she couldn't ride, just seeing her grandchildren on them filled her with the same amount of joy.
My mom was just settling into her new life in Young, AZ after living in Oregon for almost 60 years. She told me that every time she drove home it brought tears to her eyes because of how beautiful it was and how happy she was to call it her forever home. Unfortunately, due to all of this excitement and happiness, she never put her affairs in order for the just in case. No one ever thinks, or wants to think, that one day they will just be gone. This is why I am putting my mom's pride aside to ask support from all those that loved her so we can make sure she and her animals (and their home) are all taken care of the way she would have taken care of us.
The one question that keeps being asked through all of this is... How are her animals?
Clementine (aka Big Booty Judy), Patches, the donkey brothers (their names are still forever changing), Puff, Archie, Riley, Doc, Stewart, Simon, Sally, Nani, and the 3 nameless hens are being loved and cared for by those that loved and care for my mom. I visited with them on Saturday and spent a few moments with each to tell them how much my mom loved them.
