June 24, 2024 update: I got a second opinion from the highly experienced surgeon who did my mastectomies 2015-2016 and she blew my mind. She suggested we just remove the tumors and have them pathologized before removing my lymph nodes and doing the LYMPHA procedure. We scheduled this simpler surgery for July 16. I still made need to have my lymph nodes out and the LYMPHA procedure however. I have missed a lot of work so far with all of the appointments and tests and will miss 2 weeks after surgery July 16. And I will need radiation, which will cause me to miss some work as well. So your donations can also help with loss of income. If I don't need to have my lymph nodes removed and the LYMPHA procedure to which you donated, I can happily return your donation.

Original Story: I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 when I was 44 years old. Back then, I got away with 4 surgeries in 1 1/2 years and no other treatment. Now it's come back and metastasized to my lymph nodes. All of my lymph nodes in the area need to be surgically removed, which has a high risk of lymphedema, (permanent swelling of the arm).

Fred Hutch offers an effective cutting-edge procedure to restore lymph circulation and greatly reduce the risk of lymphedema. This procedure is done in the same surgery as the lymph node removal but is not covered by insurance because it is still considered experimental. It costs $6k.
