Support for Danielle Miller

We are starting a GoFundMe page for Danielle Miller.  As many of you know, Danielle has been sick since before this school year, and it is just recently that she received the diagnosis of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.  This is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system turns against the body’s own tissues, in this case the thyroid.  This can lead to hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid does not make enough hormones for the body’s needs. 

Finding this diagnosis has taken months to determine, and dozens of doctors’ appointments, both to her regular doctors and to specialists, eventually leading to a hospitalization for 5 days.  The doctors’ appointments alone have been over $1,500just for copays.  The amount of the hospital stay will reach over $3,000.  Danielle has been forced to take a medical disability leave from her job, cutting her salary into less than half.

Danielle is the principal of our low income Pre-school through 8th grade school, and is very missed by her students and teachers alike!  She has been in our school for over 20 years, both as a Junior High teacher and now principal.  It is her love for the children that makes her so good at her job, and the students are missing her smiles and hugs.  She reassures parents when they are worried and works with students who are struggling, all with a gentle touch.  We are all looking forward to her returning to being our PrinciPAL very soon!
