ORIGINAL POST:
Life has a way of surprising us, doesn't it? On, July 23, 2023, Daniella's world was forever changed. While seeking treatment for pneumonia at Langley Memorial Hospital, a shockwave of news hit her – her blood work revealed she was facing a new, fierce opponent: Leukemia. In an absolute whirlwind of events, she was whisked away to Vancouver General Hospital, where a team of dedicated oncologists unveiled the harsh truth: Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), accompanied by the T(9,11) translocation and the FLT3 gene mutation. An aggressive and stubborn form of Leukemia.
This wasn't just a curveball; it was a full-on life upheaval. Cancer, has taken center stage in a vibrant 27 year old’s life. The shock was palpable, the disbelief unimaginable. As the dust settled and the reality set in, Dani's resilience has shone through. She stands firm in the face of adversity, reminding us all of her strength, her determination, and the unstoppable force she truly is. Cancer might think it's tough, but it clearly hasn't met Dani – a fighter with her eyes locked on victory.
Perhaps you've crossed paths with Dani through work, school, or the vibrant Vancouver community. Maybe you've been entertained by her on TikTok or inspired by her on Instagram. Regardless, you've undoubtedly been touched by her infectious spirit, our Sunshine Girl. It's almost hard to believe that the same vibrant soul facing this uphill battle is the same person who was spreading joy and pursuing her dreams just a short while ago.
Dani's dreams should be alive with thoughts of her plus-size modeling agency, future family plans, and endless adventures. Yet, the reality is this stage of life is being navigated from a hospital bed. She's proving her resilience by remaining calm and optimistic despite this overwhelming diagnosis.
The path ahead is challenging and Dani's journey to recovery won't be easy. She's going to need the love, support, and positive energy of her community – that's where we humbly ask for your support!
With a heavy heart, we must share that Dani won't be able to return to work for unforeseen future. As a self-employed freelance model and fashion market/content creator, she's unable to access social support systems such as EI, and is not covered by any extended medical plan. While some medical expenses are covered by MSP, the extensive care and treatments she'll require post-chemotherapy come at a significant out of pocket cost.
Dani's upcoming journey involves a minimum of 6 months of in-and-out hospital treatments, including a bone marrow transplant and additional chemotherapy. Our primary concern is ensuring Dani gets the care she needs without burdening her with overwhelming debt. Medications, travel expenses, and the general cost of survival post-diagnosis all add up significantly.
Donations, no matter the size, are an investment in Dani's wellbeing and her fight for a future Cancer-Free. Help us support our Sunshine Girl; Your generous support will help her to focus on the real task at hand: Kicking Cancer’s $#%^&* Ass! As it stands now, Dani is currently hospitalized receiving all the treatment she requires. We will provide updates as they come. Thank you for loving and supporting our girl
