Support for Danniel and his family after Tragic Accident

Last Saturday, on a night that began with joy, laughter, and a chance to show a newly arrived family the city of Denver, tragedy struck, altering their lives again. As someone who has grown to love this incredible family like my own, my heart aches for the road they now face, and I am reaching out to you in the hope that we can help them find some light in the darkness.

This was supposed to be a special night—a moment of respite for a family who has faced more than their share of struggles this past year. We shared a stroll through the parks, had a fun dinner on a rooftop patio, and for a few precious hours, I got to see them play around and be joyful together. But as they made their way home, the unthinkable happened.

Their son Danniel, who is also kind of like a son to me, was driving with his 10-year-old sister in the backseat when a piece of furniture—a couch—lay in their lane on the freeway. In a split-second attempt to avoid the obstruction, Danniel’s car was struck and sent careening off the road. The vehicle flipped and caught fire.

Danniel sustained a serious head injury and extensive damage to his left side, requiring surgery on his hand. His young sister was thrown from the car and suffered severe head trauma, resulting in her being airlifted to the Children’s Hospital and placed in the PICU. Words can’t describe the anguish of seeing two young lives, full of promise and innocence, caught in such a cruel twist of fate.

For a family who was just beginning to rebuild, this is a devastating setback. They are grappling with unimaginable stress and financial strain. As someone who has stood by their side through every moment of this crisis, I can tell you firsthand that they are the kind of people who give without asking, and who face hardship with dignity and courage. They've had to make decisions some of us will never have to. Now, they need us to help them bear this burden.
