Help a Brave Teen Rebuild After Tragic Shooting
Donation protected
This fundraiser is on behalf of and with permission from the mother of the child who was senselessly shot while working at Subway. The statement below is from the mother directly:
On March 12th, 2025, I received a call that no mother should ever have to receive. The call was to notify me that my 15-year-old daughter had been shot while working at Subway, not even an hour into her shift. My daughter was shot at point-blank range in the face, leaving her permanently disabled and handicapped. No child should ever have to experience this level of trauma. My daughter was airlifted from Cape Fear to UNC-Chapel Hill, where she has endured multiple surgeries. Although this will be a long road to recovery, we thank God for her life and that she is still here with us.
With everything going on, and as her primary parent, I will be out of work due to her extended stay at the hospital while she recovers, as well as for the multiple outpatient therapies that she will need. My daughter literally has to relearn how to do some of the simple things that we take for granted every day, such as learning how to eat and walk again. Due to the nature of her injuries, she will have to receive a few more surgeries and therapies, including but not limited to physical and occupational therapy, as well as mental health, due to this traumatic experience.
As we navigate this difficult transition and adjust to our new reality, medical and living expenses will continue to grow. We deeply appreciate any and all donations to support our family during this time.
