Support for Dave Scott

As many of you know, Dave’s father, Michael, was brutally attacked last July in Portland, putting him in critical condition. While Dave was already dealing with his own seemingly mild health issues, he dropped everything to move into his father’s place to take care of him when he was released from the hospital’s care. Unfortunately the attack left permanent damage to Michael’s brain and accelerated his dementia, and he was moved to a hospice facility. Dave began the process of sorting out his father’s affairs to focus back on his own health issues.

Unfortunately Dave’s health began to rapidly decline, requiring him to check into hospitals multiple times, visit urgent care, and see a handful of physicians to figure out exactly what was going on. After many specialized doctor visits and waiting for test result after test result, Dave’s doctor explained to him that he has a very severe and aggressive liver disease. Without a transplant, Dave has been given a life expectancy of only a year. It is possible for him to get on the transplant list, but the process of being accepted for the surgery will take about 6 months. The health issues caused by this has left Dave unable to work.  He has been able to apply for disability assistance, but payments could take up to 6 months as well. On top of a strict treatment plan, Dave will be attending bi-weekly hospital visits for blood draws and a procedure called paracentesis which drains the fluids building in his abdomen. This procedure is crucial to protect him from getting an infection that could further exacerbate his health issues.

Because Dave is unable to work, he really needs our help right now! If you know Dave, you know that he is one of the most caring and genuine people on this planet, and would still try to give you the shirt off of his back right now. He’s been a dear friend to so many of us in the restaurant and bar industry, and taking some of the monetary stress off of him in this time will not only help him physically, but mentally as well. This news is devastating, but Dave has remained optimistic and is ready to fight. Your support in any form would mean the world to him.
