Support for David throughout PTSD & LTD issues
Donation protected
Hi everyone, I’m fundraising for my dad, David, as he continues to battle ongoing issues with his disability insurance and health problems following his motorcycle accident in 2018.
On July 28th, 2018, David and three of his friends were riding their motorcycles down highway 463 in Madison, MS, when a driver who was under the influence hit all four riders head on. Two of his friends passed away in the accident (much love to them and their families), another was injured, and dad was left with substantial injuries both physically and mentally from the impact of being hit head on and thrown forty feet away from his bike.

David was the AVP of Campus Ops and Director of Security at Belhaven University and was away from work for many months following the accident. He gradually started going back to the office but struggled greatly to fulfill the responsibilities of his job due to the high level and high stress nature of his position along with the severity of his PTSD and the physical injuries he had suffered from the accident. He kept working as long as he possibly could but in early January of 2022, after much prayer and many discussions with family and his boss, he decided to walk down the road of disability which he was granted in May of that year.
Then began the constant battle with the insurance company who would follow up practically every week with David to see if anything had changed and who would love to find any reason to drop his claim, along with struggles with dad’s flaky psychiatrist who only wanted to collect a paycheck and failed to turn things in to the insurance company in a timely manner or not respond altogether which resulted in my dad’s claim being dropped in February of 2023.
Since February, David started seeing a new psychiatrist who has been incredible and encouraging every step of the way, which has been worlds apart from the psychiatrist he was previously seeing and we are very grateful to her and for her continued support.
Unfortunately, David’s appeal to the claim denial was once again denied which has been extremely disheartening to him and our family. It always amazes me how quick insurance companies are to take your money but when it actually comes time that you need to use insurance, they’re unwilling to help or make the whole process extremely difficult.
As you can imagine, all of this has been incredibly stressful, and it’s all taken a major toll on dad in every way and having no income at all since February has been very difficult for him and the family. We’re fixing to have to seek legal action which is going to bring on a whole new level of stress of its own. I created this GoFundMe as a way to hopefully take some of the financial burden off of my dad as he walks through next steps. All money donated will go to him to put towards any debt accumulated since February and monthly expenses. Any donations, no matter what the size, would be greatly appreciated and if you’re not able to contribute, please just keep David and our family in your thoughts and prayers during these tough times. Our family never thought that we would ever be in a situation like this and we aren’t typically ones that like to ask for help but here we are.
God bless all of you and thank you so much for any and all help, whether it be prayer or donations. My family is so appreciative of you and your help during this difficult journey.
Much love,
Victoria
