The level of support my family has received these last 3 months has been so comforting. With my brother Justin’s passing on May 13th 2020, then a week later, May 20th 2020 I have a baby, and 2 months later my Mom takes the next step in her Breast Cancer treatment plan, with a new more aggressive chemo treatment plan. Our family has been through a rollercoaster of emotions. My Mom was diagnosed in October 2019. Not a day goes by where somebody isn’t checking on our family. Texts from friends checking on me and the baby, to a phone call to my Mom checking on her wellbeing, to Justin’s friends stopping by checking on my Dad, LouDog getting scooped up for boat rides, Everyone is always looking out for each other so unselfishly, and our family Thanks You big time for all those kind gestures.
2 years ago, when Justin was diagnosed with testicular cancer, his friend put together the Go Fund Me for Justin. The response was amazing. I’m sure some of you donated and wondered what Justin would use the money for. Well I’ll be totally transparent with you, my Mom, being the banking/financial guru that she is, was able to help Justin put all his donations aside in a separate account, which was then released monthly to pay his mortgage. Justin was so proud of his house, and my parents were so proud for him when he bought it.
When Justin was in the thick of his treatment, unable to be cleared for work, at one point in the hospital for 2 weeks straight for stem cell transplant, literally stem cells were removed from his body before high-dose chemotherapy is given then, blood stem cells were put back into his veins to replace the bone marrow and restore normal blood cell levels. His “chemo brain” was no joke, my Mom by his side reassuring him his house was taken care of, if she could eliminate a worry from Justin’s mind, she did. And the house was a big one.
So unselfishly putting Justin at ease all while fighting her own battles.. So this Go Fund Me is set up for my Mom, she now has to relive those endless trips to Yale for her own breast cancer chemo treatment. Go get fitted for a wig at Yale and walk the same halls of the Smilow Cancer Unit that she used to walk with Justin. Sit at the same cafeteria Justin and her used to sit at and eat. Ride the same elevator they used to ride together. People who’ve reached out to our family occasionally will ask if there is a Go Fund Me set up on my Moms behalf, or if they can do anything to help. So, I set this up for my Mom, so she can feel what Justin felt, and I can give her the same level of support that she so unselfishly gave to Justin, I want to give to her now. Thank you, Peace and Love!
