On December 27, 2019, I took our stepson to the urgent care hospital because he was having difficulty breathing and  back pain. A few days before this he told us that he was catching a cold and we treated him for a cold. At the urgent care visit we learned that he was critically ill and would be transported by helicopter to the nearest trauma hospital. We learned that he had type B flu, pneumonia and was sepsis. He was in a coma for 3 day before he woke up. The doctors wanted to pull the plug on the 3rd day but two hrs after the meeting he woke up. He is on a ventilator and an echmo machine and  was placed on a really high dose of blood pressure medication because his BP dropped so low and that has restricted blood flow to his fingers and legs which is resulting to him having to have them amputated.

Since he has been hospitalized, he has had bleeding on his brain, heart complications, organ problems and severe lung damage.  Most things have been corrected except lung damage and blood flow to legs and fingers. He is on the road to a long recovery. He will need the ventilator for a while ahead as well as echmo. He will also need prosthetics for his fingers if possible and legs.  He is a young boy with his whole life ahead of him. We want him to feel as normal as possible with all that he is going through.

Our family will have to relocate our home to suit all of Deante's medical needs. Your prayers and  donations will help with medical expenses, prosthetics, and wheelchair accessibility. Overall we thank you for your generosity and appreciate all of the support for this cause.
