Support for Devon Kilgour and Family
Donation protected
Hi, I am fortunate enough to have been one of Devon's teachers for Grades 7 to 12. I am creating this GoFundMe to support Devon and his family while Devon undergoes treatment for a sudden and unexpected diagnosis of Luekemia. Devon was diagnosed this weekend, after a trip to the Nelson Hospital to get his eye looked at, which had been bothering him recently. A few hours later and he was given the unfortunate news and Ron and Kim, his parents, rushed to town to support him.
Kim and Ron have given this fundraiser their blessing and greatly appreciate any support they receive from the community to support costs associated with travel, accommodation, and caring for Devon's siblings at home during this time.
For those who have had the pleasure of knowing Devon, you know that he is an incredibly positive, upbeat, and caring young man who walks with kindness, compassion, and empathy wherever he goes. He embraces the outdoor living of the Kootenays in all 4 seasons - hiking, fishing, paddling, hunting, skiing and nurturing his passion and skills for photography, adventure filmmaking, and spending time with the people closest to him.
His best attribute, however, is his incredibly kind attitude and positive outlook. Devon spent 3 years in our school's media program and he quietly made space for everyone of every background who walked through the door and showed humility, vulnerability and empathy to his classmates. He made our school a better place to learn every day he was present.
Devon spent his first summer out of high school wildfire fighting and was excited to get back to it this summer. He had continued this into the fall doing some related forestry work and was excited to keep working outdoors. In his free time, you could find him out adventuring with Ty and the boys, filming in the backcountry, or spending time with his loved ones. There is no doubt once this is behind him he will be back enjoying every minute that he can in the forest.
Please consider a small donation to support his family during this time.
