Support for Dolores “Loling” Ligsay's Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
Good day, everyone!
My name is Chelsea. I was born in the Philippines and moved to the US in 2016. I’m writing this on behalf of my 68-year-old grandmother in the Philippines, Dolores “Loling” Ligsay, my mother’s mother. My grandmother played a significant role in raising me because my father had already relocated to the US, and my mother was often busy working as a teacher in the Philippines, serving as the family's sole provider. My parents were already separated and had their own families. When I turned 14, my father brought me to Hawaii, and I haven’t returned home since, so I haven’t seen my grandma for 8 years.
Last year, my grandmother began to fall ill and has been hospitalized multiple times. I planned to visit her this December, and she was excited to hear that I had already bought my tickets to spend the holidays with her. Unfortunately, on October 6 (US) / October 7 (PH), I received a message from my mom that my grandmother had been rushed to the hospital. My aunt was with her, so I called for details. She explained that my grandmother was struggling to breathe and hadn’t eaten properly for several days. For months, she had only been able to consume liquid food due to swallowing difficulties, but her condition had worsened, and she could no longer swallow at all. I stayed in touch with my aunt about my grandmother’s health until she informed me that they had to transfer her to another hospital and admit her to the ICU due to her deteriorating condition. Sadly, there was no improvement. On October 7 (US) / October 8 (PH), I video-called my aunt to check on my grandmother and attempted to speak with her, but she was unconscious. I promised to call back later. A few hours later, at 11:16 PM (MST) / 1:16 PM (PST), my aunt messaged me to say that my grandmother had passed away. According to them, the causes of death were septic shock, high-risk pneumonia, hypertension, and chronic cardiovascular disease.
My grandmother was an extraordinary person with a beautiful soul. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother to all of us. I am who I am today because of her. Most of my childhood memories are with her, and she taught me so much. I am heartbroken that she is no longer with us. She passed away before I could make her proud and give her the life she deserved, but I find comfort in knowing she is now in a peaceful place, free from pain and sadness.
I am raising funds to help my mom and aunt cover my grandmother’s funeral expenses. This support will not only assist with those costs but also lighten the burden they are carrying during this difficult time.
Any contribution is appreciated. If you are unable to donate, we understand and would greatly value your prayers as our family navigates these challenging days ahead.
Thank you very much! God bless!
