Support for Donnamarie Scipione's Memorial

I express with a heavy heart the passing of my wife Donnamarie Scipione. She was only 43 years young, taken too early. She loved life and lived it to the fullest despite being on dialysis for the past 25 years and having her hands amputated early 2022 and breathing through a tracheotomy since late 2022.

Donna started dialysis at the young age of 15. She had two failed kidney transplants by the age of 19 and then living on the dialysis machine for three and a half hours 3 times per week for the rest of her life.

Again Donna met another medical challenge at the age of 40. Having respiratory failure Donna was on a ventilator for 87 days straight during her hospitalization of 176 days. She came home three days before her 41st birthday. During that hospital stay her hands were amputated from loss of circulation caused by an intravenous blood pressure medication that was administered for too long. But with both of our determination Donna made it home, but though very different. Unfortunately Donna developed tracheal stenosis leading to a permanent trachea.

I vowed to Donna that I would take care of her so I stepped back from my career to help her 24/7. As life would have it Donna became tired and discouraged and gave up her fight on July 31st 2024.

You’re safely home in heaven now Donnamarie.
