Support for Dr. Mekole Wells' Final Journey

Donation protected
On June 23, my loving aunt Dr. Mekole Wells, departed this Earthly existence to become an ancestor. The news of her sudden passing comes as an absolute shock not only to her family and friends, but to ALL that knew her. She was found lifeless in her apartment after a wellness check was initiated by her dear friend, Ms. Ellen. The police have confirmed that there was no foul play associated with her death.

My aunt was a fitness fanatic whose passion was to encourage and empower greatness in others. Her gifts and talents were many... she was an educator, an author, an actress, a recording artist, an entrepreneur, a personal trainer, wellness coach, a fitness competitor, and a painter, just to name a few. Her energy and vivaciousness was infectious and she made a profound impact on so many that crossed her path.

Mekole had finally received the title of "Dr Wells" after officially accepting her PhD in Health Sciences and Public Policy from Walden University this past January. She designated herself as a "racism strategist" and was passionate about ensuring that all children, especially black and brown, had access to an adequate education.

Mekole was a daughter, a sister, an aunt and a cousin... throughout her colorful life, she touched the lives of many. But to me, not only was she my Auntie Lisa, she was my big sister, my confidant and my FRIEND... I will miss her more than anyone could ever imagine.

As my Auntie had no children nor significant other at the time of her passing, it is my assignment to close out her material life and bring her remains home to California. My aunt lived in Washington DC and our immediate family lives in California. I live in Texas, so I have had to travel to DC to clean out her apartment, tie up her final expenses, make arrangements with the funeral home and plan her memorial in the near future. I am so grateful for our loving cousin, LaDra, who has been by my side the entire time assisting me with this process.

Many family and friends have expressed their condolences and asked how they can help. I have created this fundraiser to assist with the expenses incurred with closing out Auntie's life. Your love and support are greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
