Support for My Uncle drew shinn
Donation protected
Hey my name is Robert Shinn and i am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my uncle Drew who is fighting very hard against throat cancer, here is the story from my dad and his sister.
Our younger brother, Drew, has experienced unfortunate health issues spanning the last 5-10 years. He is very reluctant to seek help through social media, but we feel that financial aid is what is needed most to help lighten his ongoing depression and anxiety moving forward. In August, he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, originating from a tumor near his tongue. Aggressive radiation and chemotherapy treatments showed positive results, but a PET scan in February 2024 will provide more information. He continues to struggle with the side effects of his treatment. For the past five years, Drew worked as a Paraprofessional in the Olathe School District. It is a minimum wage paying position and luckily, he is able to get health insurance. His previous career as a teacher and coach was cut short by his eye disorders, leading to surgeries and the need for expensive scleral lenses. Two hip replacement surgeries and ongoing health issues have strained Drew financially. He has had to exhaust his savings and made withdrawals from his retirement account. Drew's dedication to education and coaching has been more than a job; it is his passion. Despite his visual challenges, cancer treatment, and hip surgeries, he continued to volunteer as a football coach. Facing mounting medical bills, insurance deductibles, and unpaid hours due to treatments, Drew's financial struggles have intensified. Your donation can make a significant impact on helping Drew overcome these hardships during this challenging time. Please consider contributing to support him in this journey. We would be most grateful for any donation sent at this time. Our blessings and good wishes to you and your families all throughout the new year.
With sincere thanks, Steve and Heather
