Support for Eddie Mayerik & family #EddieStrong
Donation protected
I’m setting up this GoFundMe page on behalf of one of Sandburg’s own - our funny, sweet, kind-hearted Eddie Mayerik in 1st grade (Brown/Larson’s class), and for his whole family to help them during this difficult time.If you are able to donate anything to help the family with expenses, it would be greatly appreciated Please read the following note from his family for more information about Eddie’s condition:*****************************************We need A LOT of prayers for our little 1st grade Sandburger, Eddie. He needs our prayers... Matthew 21:22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” #EddieStrong we could use your prayers. Over the last 24 hours Eddie has gotten significantly worse. They tried to put him on BiPap yesterday to help open up his lungs, but ultimately around 4:30pm they ended up intubating because he is so sick. They were afraid that he would go into cardiac arrest. After intubating he started going into some SVT and Vtach heart rhythms (very fast) and on two Ocasions they had to shock him 2-3 times to get him to come out. Also during all of this and during one of his x-rays, they saw that his upper left lung had collapsed. Ultimately, he was too unstable and around 12:30am they transferred him to the cardiac unit and put him on ECMO. This machine is the last line of defense keeping our buddy here with us. He is doing “well” on the ECMO. This machine does all the work for the heart and lungs so Eddie’s body doesn’t have to. This morning they called us and said that the lung collapse was getting larger and they wanted to put a chest tube in to re-inflate. Obviously this also comes with risks but it had to be done so his lungs can heal. He is not out of the woods and we ask that you just pray…. For healing, for no pain, for comfort, for strength - not only for Eddie but our entire extended family (grandparents and his aunts and their families) for the guidance of the doctors, surgeons and nurses. There is always a chaplain on call and we were able to pray for Eddie and his healing last night. But the power of prayer is an amazing thing and we just need our prayer warriors to do their thing! We love you
