Help Us Honor the Memory of My Dad, Edward Gonzales Jr
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
I am writing to you with a heavy heart after the unexpected loss of my father, Edward Gonzales Jr (Eddie) who passed away on November 5th, 2024, at the age of 62. What began as a minor shoulder injury from a fall on November 3rd rapidly escalated into a tragic situation as he succumbed to septic shock just two days later. I was three hours away when I received the devastating news, and the pain of not being by his side in those final moments is something I will carry with me forever.
My dad was a kind, God-loving man with an innocent soul. He took immense pride in my accomplishments and was always there to cheer me on. He was humble and needed little more than a phone call or quality time together to feel fulfilled. Dad had a passion for singing oldies and would light up any room with his jokes and laughter. He cherished his time with his beloved wife, Stephanie, and truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of being a homebody.
His selflessness was unmatched; he would give you the shirt off his back and offered help to anyone in need. When I received the heart-wrenching call from Stephanie, her voice cracking as she struggled to say, “He’s gone,” my heart shattered. The weight of loneliness and loss hit me hard as an only child. Losing a parent so suddenly and at such a young age is a pain I wouldn’t wish on anyone. The only comfort I find is knowing he is with his mom my grandmother Mary Ellen, his nephew Abel and other relatives who have passed on.
As I replay memories of my dad, my buddy, I can't help but think of Stephanie and the profound impact this loss will have on both our lives. My father lived a humble life and, unfortunately, his life insurance policy lapsed, leaving us with financial burdens during this already overwhelming time. Bills don’t stop, even when our world has turned upside down.
In this time of need, I am reaching out for love, prayers, and support. I am reaching out to any family, friend, coworker, or person whose life has been touched by my father, by myself, or by this story. If you are able, I kindly ask for any donations to help us lay my father to rest and support Stephanie and our family through this difficult transition.
I understand these are tough times for many, and I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to read my story. At the end of our lives, it is love and memories that remain, and I am grateful for every moment I shared with my dad. I will continue to update this page with further information, and if you wish to donate another way, please feel free to contact me directly.
Thank you for your love, support, prayers, and, most importantly, your time. God bless you all. Remember, memories are the true treasures of life—make sure to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you, for we are all temporary passengers on this journey of life.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Edward Gonzales III (the third)
