Support for Emily, Brendon, Wilder & Wrenly’s medical costs

Hi everyone, as some of you may know a few weeks ago my Sister and Brother in law (Emily and Brendon) got some unexpected news about their baby girl Wrenly who was set to be born around November 19th. Here’s an update:

There have been some changes to her diagnosis/prognoses and they will now be flying to Seattle in the next 2 weeks to deliver her there and have her immediate NICU care with the team at Seattle Children’s hospital.

Emily flew to Seattle and had 6 appointments and lots of testing yesterday. The maternal fetal specialist did confirm it is a severe skeletal displaysia, but she does not think it is achondroplasia based off the head measurement and the fact that she was already lagging in growth at my 22 week scan where achondroplasia typically doesn’t show until later on. So they will need testing once she arrives to figure out what she has and determine best treatments.

The doctors in Seattle are very worried about her chest/rib cage size. It’s measuring in at the less than 1 percentile. Because of the limited space the heart is taking up more room than the lungs. The limited space also means the lungs may not have enough room to function properly. There is a chance she “could surprise us” and be able to breathe on her own, unfortunately there is a larger chance she will need breathing support either tubes or masks or a combination. They also made sure that we’re aware that her lungs may not be compatible to support life and that there is a real possibility this is going to be lethal. They won’t know until after delivery.

They are making sure the pediatric lung specialists are aware and available for when she comes though and Emily will for sure be delivering in Seattle so she has the best care available immediately.

Unfortunately, this is going to be a very long emotionally, financially, and physically draining road ahead of them. They will be needing to cover months of Airbnb & rental car stays, to be in Seattle while also making sure Wilder has the support and space he needs while maintaining their mortgage etc at home, the incoming medical bills from all of this, and not working full time so that they can be there with Wren. So for those of you asking if there is any way you can help and your financially able to, here is a link to the go fund me to help support some of the costs.

We really appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers and good vibes and all the things to help welcome her into this world and hopefully keep her here. ❤️
