On Thursday, July 18, Emily, Jordan and little Olivia were finishing off their vacation in the mountains in northern Georgia. They were planning on heading home the following morning, however, after grabbing a bite to eat, Emily had a hard fall and was rushed to the hospital. Once she was there, they were told that she had a severely dislocated knee, fractured her tibia, had nerve damage and arterial damage to her leg and foot. The team at the medical center didn't have the staff on hand to deal with her injury so she was transported nearly 2 hours north to a hospital in Chattanooga, TN. She underwent an almost 8 hour bypass surgery in her right leg to reroute blood flow from the damaged arteries to her foot. She spent 4 days in the Trauma ICU and was just recently moved to a normal care hospital room.
Luckily Emily and Jordan have an amazing friend who was able to come pick up Olivia and take her back home where she will stay with her Grandma until Emily and Jordan can come home. Jordan is currently staying at a nearby hotel and seeing Emily during visiting hours. Kudos for him for being the most supportive husband. Right now, her ETA home is unknown as they are monitoring the blood flow in her leg and she still has no feeling in her foot.
There is a lot about the future that is unknown as they aren't sure what the recovery will look like. She will definitely have months of restricted movement and physical therapy to build her strength back up. As you know, medical bills can be through the roof and we want to do whatever we can to help take even just a small load off of their plate as they navigate these next few months.
Thank you for any and all support!
