Support for Erica & Alexis

Alexis (15) was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer (osteosarcoma) early last year. After nearly a year of chemo, surgery, and treatment at Phoenix Children’s hospital, Alexis was given a clean bill of health October 2019. She discontinued treatment and began to look at normalizing life with her mom Erica at her side.
 
May 2020, the family received some devastating news that Alexis’ cancer had returned. Alexis’ doctors described the return as “aggressive”, “metastasized” with their intention to begin looking at keeping her comfortable. She shortly began additional rounds of chemo, stronger than what was attempted last year.
 
July 2020, Erica and Alexis are informed that the newest cancer is not responding to chemo treatment. The tumors in her leg have grown and new tumors have spread to her lungs. Erica and Alexis have returned home from the hospital in order to reevaluate next steps within the comfort of their own home.

Erica has made Alexis’ health her priority over the last year and a half doing her own research in order to contribute as much as possible to Alexis’ treatment. She has been balancing work as a single parent all while juggling being caretaker and advisor for her daughter. We are asking for funds to help support their journey as the family navigates next steps.
