Ed Murphy -Hiker tragically killed by falling tree
On May 25th, 2021 Ed Murphy summited Mt Moriah, in the Wild River Wilderness Area in New Hampshire's White Mountains. He was attempting to climb all 48 of the four thousand footers in New Hampshire. This was his 39th peak. After posting his final photograph on social media from the peak, he hiked 12 miles to the Spruce Brook Tent Site. When he got there, it was dark and he couldn't see that the spruce tree he connected his hammock tent to was dying. When he was in bed for the night the tree uprooted and crashed on him killing him instantly.
This fundraising effort is to raise money for his widow, Angela, to put into the college fund for his sixteen-year-old daughter, Olivia. She intends to apply to nursing programs when she graduates from high school in two years. She got her first driver's license in the mail the day after she heard of her father's death. She's recently been accepted into a Health Science Technology program for high school students who are interested in a career in health care. All of the donations will go to benefit her education. The family would like to thank all of the friends, family and neighbors who have reached out with offers to help and with their prayers. It's only with the support of many that they will get through this difficult time.
