Support for Family's Tragic Loss

Les escribo en nombre de mis amigos, la familia Mejia/Castañón, quienes perdieron inesperadamente a su hija mayor, Shirley Mejia, este sábado pasado.

La familia estaba en Great America disfrutando de un día familiar que terminó en tragedia. Shirley, su mama y dos amigos cercanos de la familia se subieron a una montaña rusa y, después de bajarse, Shirley le dijo a su mama que no se sentía bien y que no podía ver, pero estaba consciente. Los paramédicos la llevaron rápidamente al hospital en condición estable mientras los padres seguían a la ambulancia hasta el hospital. Cuando llegaron, recibieron la peor noticia que ningún padre debería tener que escuchar. Su hija había fallecido. Shirley acababa de cumplir 15 años y era la mayor de otros 3 hermanos. Estaba a semanas de comenzar su segundo año de secundaria.

La familia está devastada y no estaba preparada para el alto costo de un funeral. Les gustaría darle a Shirley el homenaje que se merece, y es por eso que les pido su ayuda.

I am writing on behalf of my friends, the Mejia/Castañón family, who unexpectedly lost their oldest daughter, Shirley Mejia, this past Saturday.

The family was in Great America enjoying a family day that ended in tragedy. Shirley, her mother and two close family friends got on a roller coaster, and after getting off, Shirley told her mother that she was not feeling well and could not see but was conscious. The paramedics rushed her to the hospital in stable condition while her parents followed the ambulance to the hospital. When they arrived, they received the worst news that no parent should have to hear. Their daughter had passed away. Shirley had just turned 15 and was the oldest of 3 other siblings. She was weeks away from starting her Sophomore year of high school.

The family is devastated and was not prepared for the high cost of a funeral. They would like to give Shirley the tribute she deserves, and this is why I'm asking for your help.
