Support for Father's Rehabilitation Journey

On August 31, 2023, our father experienced a sudden and severe medical emergency that left us all in shock. At first, he thought he was having a stroke, but when the medical team arrived, they found him unable to move his body. His body temperature was in the 80s, and had he not been treated, we may have lost him. After extensive medical evaluation, it was determined that he had Rhabdomyolysis, a condition that has had a profound impact on his health.

Over the past year in a rehabilitation facility, my dad was showing incredible strength and resilience, slowly regaining his health and endurance. The journey, however, came to a standstill when he got a bed sore which became infected, and he had to be rehospitalized.

During the hospitalization, and with the opinions of multiple doctors, they have determined that his foot will not be able to heal properly and he will need to have an amputation of his leg. This is going to cause much more one-on-one care and a longer stay in the rehabilitation facility, which his insurance will only cover for 100 days (after 60 days of being out of the hospital).

Due to costs of rehabilitation and necessary lifestyle adjustments, our family is facing a financial burden.
