Support for Frederick Family After House Fire

A Frederick, MD house fire off of Himes Ave on the evening of Friday, Dec. 2 affected three joining townhouses. This GoFundMe page is being set up for one the displaced families affected in the tragedy. The Uribes family was just finishing dinner last night with their daughter and her own family and children in their home when they smelled smoke and pulled back a curtain to find engulfing flames consuming their neighbor's back deck and home, rapidly making way its way into their own home. The family of 4 plus their daughter's family of 7 immediately evacuated out of the house to safety. We are incredibly thankful that no one was injured as a result.

Nonetheless, the irreparable damage to the home and their belongings is devastating. The Uribes family did not own the home but were renters and, unfortunately, did not have renters insurance. The damage caused by the fire affected multiple rooms in the home and damaged an innumerable amount of items, including personal keepsakes that are now completely lost. The family of 4 is now displaced and left to replace all the items lost in the fire just before what most consider a joyous season.

It is our goal that by Christmas we can have the family moved into a new residence furnished and equipped with the necessary items to move forward. Additionally, the family will need to replace clothing items, jackets, and shoes. Meal gift cards will also be appreciated during this transition period. The Red Cross stepped in last night to support lodging in the immediate aftermath, and the family is safely navigating next steps.
