A Firefighter's Farewell: Gabriel Nieves

The dreadful day has come. Gabriel passed away April 16 at 2:30 am. He is no longer suffering in pain as hurtful as it is it hurt more to watch him suffer any longer. It has become unbearable and I couldn't begin to imagine how he felt it hurt us to watch him in pain. He fought long and hard and has outlived his expectancy. Please remember Gabe as the kind-hearted warrior who was an unbelievably strong man as he always was. As for any update on the services Gabriel had few wishes we are going to fulfill completely and once spoken over with the family we will post another update. Hi, my name is Robert Nieves I am the brother of Gabriel Nieves which is my little brother who is terminally ill and I am creating this fundraiser for his funeral expenses. Over 3 years ago he has been diagnosed with stage four intestinal cancer. He has put up one heck of a fight and has lived much past his expectancy. Currently Gabe is on hospice as he is terminally ill and there is no more treatment that the doctors can no longer provide. We were told in the beginning he had a zero percent chance of surviving the cancer but we've always had hope that he would pull through this and no matter how much preparation it still doesn't prepare us for the inevitable. A couple months ago he was given 6 months and we have watched the cancer take over and has been one of the hardest things to ever see. My baby brother at that. If you knew Gabe then you loved him as he always been a great friend/brother. Gabe is a firefighter here in the Sullivan County region and drove school buses for over the last 15 years. A hard worker and a man who never bothered anybody he did not deserve this and to watch him suffer during his last stage here is heartbreaking. We do thank everyone who contributes to the fundraiser as it is highly appreciated anything counts and will be used towards his funeral expenses. The family and I thank everyone for their time and efforts. All the best. There is no exact date for when the services will take place as stated he is currently on hospice care, but will update for when an exact date can be provided. Thank you all for everything.
