Help Us Honor the Life Of Gladys Anthony: Life Cut Short
Donation protected
Hi, my name is VRene Green, and I’m the niece of Gladys Anthony. On January 15th, 2025, our world was shattered when my beloved aunt’s life was tragically and violently taken from us. Gladys, a woman of unshakable character, was attacked and killed by three pitbulls in her own backyard. This senseless act has left our family in disbelief, heartbroken, and searching for answers. Gladys didn’t deserve this—no one deserves to lose their life this way.
Gladys was a woman who embodied love, strength, and kindness. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She spent over 30 years working as a custodian for the Ritenour School District, where she was known for her hard work, warm smile, and willingness to help anyone in need. She was a beloved member of the community, respected for her integrity, dedication, and the joy she brought to others simply by being herself.
But more than that, Gladys was family—and family meant everything to her. She had a way of making everyone feel valued, seen, and loved. She was the one who made sure no one ever went without a warm meal, the one who checked in on you to make sure you were okay, and the one who always had a smile on her face, even during the hardest of times. Her love was unconditional and unwavering.
On the afternoon of January 15th, Gladys was following her usual routine—something so simple, yet so tragically final. She had just finished her shift at work and, like every day, she took her dog outside into her backyard. What should have been a peaceful moment ended in horror when three pitbulls entered her yard and attacked. Because my aunt was deaf, she never heard the dogs approach. She had no warning, no chance to protect herself. In the few moments it took for the family to rush to her aid, it was already too late. Despite their desperate efforts to save her, the dogs would not release their grip, until officers came to mace them away. She was then rushed to the hospital where she didn't survived.
This tragedy has left us not only mourning the loss of a beautiful soul but also grappling with anger, confusion, and deep sadness. Gladys was the kind of person who would never harm a fly. She was a gentle, caring, and selfless woman who spent her life looking out for others. To see her life taken in such a violent way, in the place she should have felt safest, is something we cannot come to terms with.
We are now asking for your support. As a family, we want to give Gladys the proper homegoing she deserves, but the unexpected expenses for funeral arrangements have been overwhelming. We never anticipated that we would need to ask for help during such a difficult time, but we know that we can't face this alone. Any amount you are able to contribute will help us honor Gladys' memory and ensure she has the peaceful farewell she truly deserves.
But this fundraiser is not just about funeral costs. It’s about raising awareness of this tragedy. It’s about asking the hard questions: Could this have been prevented? What safety measures can be put in place to protect others from experiencing this kind of loss? We believe that by sharing her story, we can spark change and make sure no one else has to go through what we are.
Please, if you knew Gladys or were touched by her story, we ask for your support. Your donation, no matter how small, will make a difference as we navigate this heartbreaking loss. Above all, we hope to spread awareness so that no other family has to face this kind of pain.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and love during this incredibly difficult time.
With deep gratitude,
