Support for Guadalupe to Renew Her Green Card

Donation protected
Guadalupe, known lovingly as GT or Lupe, is an extraordinary woman who has made a lasting impact in the lives of many. Guadalupe and her family moved to the United States when she was just 11 years old. Guadalupe became blind as a toddler and has consistently demonstrated her independence throughout her life. After moving to the United States, she not only had to learn a new language, she had to do so more rapidly than her peers, as braille textbooks were not readily available in Spanish. She was up to the challenge.

As a student, Guadalupe was nothing short of remarkable, participating actively in school groups and activities. She graduated from Solomon Juneau High School in just three years and went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Medical Translation from Milwaukee Area Technical College. Her passion for service extends far beyond academics. Guadalupe has volunteered with numerous community organizations and currently serves on the board of directors for Audio and Braille Literacy Enhancement (ABLE) and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction State Superintendent’s Blind and Visual Impairment Education Advisory Council.

For the past three years, Guadalupe has worked tirelessly as a paraprofessional in the Milwaukee Public Schools. She supports students with visual impairments as they learn braille, assistive technology, and other essential skills to thrive in their classes. Guadalupe is not just an educator; she’s a role model to both students and staff as she navigates the hallways with her 3rd Seeing Eye dog, Crista.

Now, Guadalupe needs our help. It’s time for her to renew her Green Card, a process with expenses exceeding $4,000. While Guadalupe’s dedication and contributions are immeasurable, her salary doesn’t match the impact she makes in the world. This fundraiser aims to assist her with these costs and ensure that she can continue her incredible work and service.

The good news? This should be the last time she has to apply for a Green Card — her next step will be citizenship!

Please consider contributing to this fundraiser to support Guadalupe, a truly deserving individual who has touched countless lives with her work, compassion, and determination. Every dollar counts and brings Guadalupe closer to her goal.

Thank you for helping Guadalupe continue to make a difference!
