Support for Homeless Dad & Son
Donation protected
Two years ago I met a lovely woman panhandling on Pearl Street. She was as pregnant as me with no home to rest her tired body. Thru the support of a generous Mom's group we donated food, clothing and baby supplies. Unfortunately, she and her husband were forced to leave town a few days after their son was born due to lack of resources. I often wondered what happened to that sweet little family.
Yesterday I was struck by a homeless Dad and his jolly two year old boy bobbing their heads to the street performers on Pearl Street. I went over and we began talking. Sure enough, this was the family, minus Mom. Mom was unwell and unable to care for their son. He and Dad left her in good care and headed back to Colorado to find a job and resources. Dad only needs money for diapers and to sustain the rent that keeps them sheltered. He asked for a "hand up, not a hand out." He is looking for work daily and showed me his resume and list of places he sought employment. Funds collected will go towards both of these needs.
