Support for Indigenous father
Donation protected
After a near fatal incident in 2016, my father’s recovery has been ongoing and, as a result, he has been struggling mentally, physically, and financially.
Recently, my father was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer.
This diagnosis has exacerbated my father’s ongoing hardships and he is understandably struggling to cope.
My whole life I have witnessed this man provide for and support his family and friends. He’s given my friends a home when they needed it most, and was a stand-in Father to indigenous youth until he retired from Four Directions in 2008.
As a survivor of Canada’s Residential School system, my father has not lived an easy life. I just want to make things as easy as possible for him while I can.
My amazing mother and step dad have been helping my father navigate his health and have found him a suitable place to live.
While he finally has a roof over his head, my father is also suffering from mobility issues and cognitive decline.
All donations raised will go towards rental assistance, a meal program so that he can be fed daily, his medications, as well as a mobility scooter so he can get around.
I love my father greatly, and I am so grateful for any assistance in helping him overcome these hurdles.
