From tomorrow 1st February 2024 myself, Hannah, Ashlie, Ben, Brad, Katie, Joe, Dave Adams, Kelly Biney and Lauren Stocks will walking 10,000 steps per day, every day, for the whole of February to raise money for our Auntie Jack.
The speed and severity of how Alzheimer’s has gotten hold of her is quite frankly scary. 12 months ago she was a woman working full time as finance manager for Sheffield Wednesday, providing child care before and after school for the grand children she absolutely dotes on, holidaying with the girls and drinking until 5am on her favourite Benidorm strip, partying down town regularly and travelling the UK watching Brad play football. She was the life and soul of the party, always immaculately dressed, looked after herself and loved a bit of self care (aka work ) and looked way younger than her age, loved the dance floor and good food and had the most wicked sense of humour.
It breaks my heart to see what this awful disease has done to her physically, mentally and emotionally but until there is a cure, unfortunately there is nothing we can do to slow it down. But she’s bloody strong and that wicked sense of humour and love of a party is still there, and what we can do, is help tye and Ben and Brad make the time from now as stress free as possible. Unfortunately that costs. And as a young woman the system isn’t set up to help.
So we want to raise as much money as possible to put in place private care for the times when we as family can’t do it due to everyone working, to fund her being able to go to the limited support groups out there for people with early onset dementia, and to basically remove as much stress and worry for tye while he still pays for everything on his fireman’s wage alone.
The go fund me link is in the bio. We’d really love your support xx
(And for full transparency I’m still in hospital so I will be late starting my steps but I am absolutely determined that no matter how many days I miss I will make up my steps)
EDIT….. unfortunately my own health has taken a turn and I won’t be able to do the step challenge this month. However my amazing besties Emma Fowler and Nikki Carthy have stepped up to do my steps for me ❤️❤️
