Support for Jackson and the Nystrom Family

Hi my name is Deena Pontious, a friend and colleague of Jeri Nystrom. I'm helping to raise money to support medical costs and other financial needs for the Nystrom family as they navigate this unexpected journey. Their son Jackson, who is 20 years old, has just been diagnosed with Round Cell Sarcoma (a type of soft tissue cancer). While still waiting for results of other tests, the doctors recommended he start treatment of chemotherapy Monday through Thursday every other week for 14 weeks. His parents, Dave and Jeri, will need to take time off work to support him. Funds donated will be used for medical costs and living expenses during this very difficult time.

A little about Jackson:

His love is baseball! He achieved his goal of playing Division I baseball at the University of San Francisco. This fall, as he was preparing for the season, his left hip was bothering him and he thought maybe he pulled a hip flexor muscle. He tried many treatments to relieve the pain and loosen up the hip. While finding some relief, it was still not 100%. Later, the team trainer was evaluating him and they both felt the lump on his hip was getting bigger so they decided to have the SF Giants team doctor evaluate with x-ray and ultrasound. The images turned out negative. Jackson played with his team that weekend, played amazingly and helped his team win both games. The following Monday the team trainer took Jackson to get an MRI and that's when Jackson and his family's world changed dramatically.
