Support for Jake Weston and his family

We want to make sense of it, and we can't. Strokes are devastating. A fast reaction by Brandi, followed by great care from skilled doctors and nurses, have kept him with us. Jake was quickly flown from our local hospital to a better-equipped hospital two hours away. He then underwent two surgeries - one to save his brain from the stroke, and one to save his leg after the first procedure caused a clot and stopped circulation. He spent nearly 7 total hours in surgery, received several units of blood, and is under intensive care. He speaks clearly, but he's having a difficult time communicating the way he wants to. His first full sentence came when he asked his 12-year-old son "hey goober, whatchya doing?" on the kids' first phone call with their dad since the stroke.

If you know Jake, you know he's a rare kind - a genuine, selfless, kind, devoted, loving guy. He's a friend to everyone he meets. He's a devoted husband, doting dad to four kids, the best big brother to three sisters, Uncle Jake-Jake to his many nieces and nephews, and first-born son to his parents. He's also a self-employed contractor and coach. He'd much rather be helping someone, than need to be helped.

His recovery will be long-term, so his wife and children will need long-term provisions.

...for Brandi. She is juggling being there with Jake through the recovery process and keeping the kids encouraged and connected.

...for the kids. As much as this has rocked everyone's world, it's especially hard for them to grasp it all.

...for our parents. Jake is a devoted, loving, hard-working guy because we've had great examples.

...for the extended family as we rally around our beloved brother, sister-in-law, and sweet nieces and nephew.

...for friends and strangers alike to rally around this family in this unforeseen difficulty.
