Support for Jasmine and Baby Nero

Donation protected
On September 3, 2021, my dear sister Jasmine was rushed to the hospital for excruciating pain in her shoulders. At the time, Jasmine was in her 33rd week of pregnancy. We soon found out that Jasmine was extremely sick. My parents, who live 6 hours away from my sister, rushed to the hospital as soon as they could. The news they received about her health was devastating.

The doctors informed my parents that Jasmine had multiple life-threatening conditions such as pneumonia, a blood clot in her lungs and a blood infection all causing distress to her unborn child. The doctors had to take immediate action to save her and her baby’s life. It was then, I reached out for prayer for my sister because she truly needed a miracle.
PRAISE GOD BOTH OF THEIR LIVES WERE SAVED!

Her baby boy, Nero, is currently in the NICU receiving care. We continue to pray for baby Nero’s improvement as he is currently on a feeding tube to provide him additional supplement so that he can gain weight. Also, we are praying that he can maintain his normal body temperature without the need of the incubator.

We are praying that Jasmine continues to get strong and healthy. Unfortunately, the surgeons were unable to physically remove the blood clot in her lung. Doing so would have possibly cost her, her life. Her doctors placed her on blood thinners in hopes of dissolving the blood clot and prevent other blood clots from forming. Jasmine was placed on an ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) machine and spent several days in the Cardiovascular ICU. The ECMO machine provided the gas exchange for Jasmine because her heart and lungs were unable to provide perfusion to sustain life. The ECMO machine gave her lungs and heart a rest so that her body could heal.

As the days passed, Jasmine showed improvement and they were able to remove her off the ECMO machine 9 days later. Although the blood clot still exists in Jasmine’s lung, we are still praying that the blood thinners work to dissolve the clot.

With Jasmine being in the Cardiovascular ICU, she was not able to see her baby boy Nero right away like most mother’s that give birth. The nurses from the NICU, was able to bring her baby boy, Nero, to the ICU 4 days after he was born so that she could see him for the 1st time. They knew how important it was for her to see her little miracle and give her the strength to continue to fight to get healthy.

There is nothing like a mother’s love for her baby. Everyone, including the nurses and the doctors in the Cardiovascular ICU were excited when the NICU nurses brought baby Nero down to see his mom. That was a beautiful moment. The look on Jasmine face was priceless. It was a look of determination that she was going to get strong and healthy for her baby boy. My parents were told that this was the first time that this has ever been done at this facility. We are very grateful that the NICU was able to make that happen. The NICU also provided a monitor by the incubator so that Jasmine and the family could use their phone to see baby Nero as much as possible.

My family are truly grateful for the doctor, surgeons, nurses, and everyone that provided care for my sister.

As this is a very trying time for my family these past few weeks, we have seen what prayer can do! We know that Jasmine and her baby, Nero, have a long road ahead of them for complete healing and that is what I want Jasmine to focus on right now and not have to worry about the financial aspect of this. That is why I am reaching out to my friends and family for help.

I am asking for donations to assist my family in the coming days, weeks, and months as they prepare to bring Jasmine and baby Nero back home to Virginia so that they can provide the love, care, and support, they need as Jasmine and her baby boy continue to heal. The funds would be used to help with the amounting medical costs and extra expenses in taking care of a preemie and my sister. We are abundantly grateful, and no amount is ever too small.

On behalf of my family, thank you all for being a part of the miracles, whether through prayer, heartfelt check ins, or donations we are truly grateful.

God Got This!
Love,
Shari
