Jemma Solomon & family

Friends and neighbors, we're reaching out to the many of you who know Jemma Solomon, our beloved nanny and caregiver for the last 11 years, more recently a school aide at PS 321, as well as the mother of four: two adult daughters, a son in his first year of college, and a daughter in her first year of high school.

On Thursday, March 9, Jemma's husband Gary died unexpectedly from a heart attack. Gary had been struggling in various ways over these last years during the pandemic, and yet his death still comes as a horrible shock to Jemma and her family. In addition to managing the emotional toll on herself and her children, Jemma is going to need so much in the long and short term, from covering Gary's funeral expenses, to food, medical bills, car payments, and so much more.

We're reaching out to our generous community because we truly cannot count the number of times over the last 11 years that people who interact with Jemma in some way -- other parents, babysitters, neighbors, teachers, afterschool providers, and more -- have gone out of their way to tell us how special she is. She has given so much to this community, so we're asking you to consider contributing to her family, if you are able. And because we suspect many more know Jemma than those we've thought to send this to, please consider sharing this with anyone else who might know her and be open to supporting her family during this difficult time.
