This site is the brainchild of Daniel Wallace and Stephanie Vanderslice. We are very grateful to them.
Two weeks ago, Jenny was diagnosed with high-grade serous ovarian cancer. Her family—her husband Tim and daughter Theo —is currently posted to Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Jenny came to London in January for treatment for cervical spine problems, and while here, visited her regular GP, who ordered the blood test that first suggested ovarian cancer. (Dr. Powell of Park Medical Centre is a star). Months of scans and tests followed, resulting in the diagnosis. Jenny has been staying with friends (five different ones thus far), as her family has no home in London. In June, she will need to move into her own flat. The past weekend, as a result of chemo, she had fainting episodes, severe pain, and other disabilites, and could not have survived had T&T not been visiting. The weekend was a wakeup call, and made it clear she needs a wee temporary rental flat where her family and friends can visit her, as she needs a companion 24 hours a day. Her family is struggling financially, as maintaining households in two countries continents apart is expensive and it doesn't help that Tim and Theo have been commuting from Tashkent to London to visit her. So they need help paying for Jenny's accommodation, as well as food and transportation in London at least through September. She has been living in other people's guest rooms since January, not an ideal situation in which to undergo chemo and surgery. They all feel fortunate to have the love of their sprawling community around the world and wish they were closer geographically. If you are able to donate, I know they will be forever grateful.
