Support for Joel + Jeanette
Donation protected
On Monday, September 23, my brother Joel was admitted to the emergency room for severe abdominal pain, and on September 25, he was diagnosed with Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). In most instances, FAP is hereditary and conditions begin developing during teenage years. Joel was unaware of having this condition, as it was asymptomatic until this week, and it has progressed significantly. Due to the prognosis of this disease, removal of part of or the entire colon is required to prevent advancement of the disease, including malignancy. That is what Joel faces right now. The disease also tends to manifest itself along the entire digestive tract and other parts of the body, so he also will require continual medical monitoring. We are awaiting biopsy which will reveal more about the full course of treatment he requires.
They are keeping Joel in the hospital through this week, up until and after surgery. We anticipate he will be unable to work at least while he undergoes surgery, and during recovery afterward. His fiancee, Jeanette, has been by his side and will also be unable to work as she has, in order to care for him during this time.
I'm hoping to help ease the financial burden Joel and Jeanette face ahead, to help cover daily living costs like mortgage and bills, fuel, and food - so they can concentrate efforts on healing and health without the worry of how they will cover their basic expenses. If by chance there's a surplus for medical bills, that would be an even greater blessing. ($10K is a sizable goal, but it's about six months' worth of mortgage alone - and I had to put something in that field).
I understand not everyone is able to contribute financially. Prayers for strength, comfort, provision, and full healing are much appreciated, too.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any help you can provide to Joel and Jeanette.
