Support for Josh "Toon" Jones

Josh was severely injured after being a victim of another shooting in New Orleans. He was the 5th victim to be shot on or near the Louisa exit of I-10 East in New Orleans; two previous victims died.

On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, around noon, Josh was approached from behind on I-10 East by a reckless, erratic driver. Before he could react, get over & let him pass, the suspect quickly changed lanes, pulled next to him, & started shooting, then fled. By the grace of God & determination, he was able to drive to a nearby business who called 911. He was transported to the hospital by paramedics with multiple gunshot wounds. He is in stable condition, but he was shot 3 times. One bullet grazed his face, another bullet went through his arm (entrance & exit wound), & one bullet entered his side. The 3rd bullet is now stuck in his back & he will have to see a trauma surgeon to determine if it can be removed. Once he consults with a trauma specialist, he will know more about future surgeries and when his physical therapy journey will begin.

Doctors anticipate his recovery to be difficult & this fundraising page has been created for him to help support him with the expenses associated with his recovery. While the road to recovery will be long, it's nothing the Jones family can't handle together with our love and support. A little bit about Toon: he was born in 1997, grew up in Monroe, graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 2015, & started a career in the oilfield industry. He has been working in south Louisiana for a few years now & loves it. He is an avid outdoorsman with a love for hunting and fishing. He is a loving son and an exceptional friend. It only takes a few minutes with him before he has you laughing and knowing you have a true friend for life.
