Joshua Southworth's Accident Fund
My dear friend Fay's son, Joshua Southworth broke his neck on Sept 25, 2017, in a trampoline accident. He is 17. The diagnosis doesn't look good, but hundreds and hundreds of people are praying for the Lord Jesus to heal him completely! We are standing in faith, believing for a miracle!
While you are praying for him, if you feel on your heart to donate to him and his family, please do so! These donations will go towards Joshua's care, rehabilitation and longer-term well-being. Let's help his family through this overwhelmingly emotional time. Please help in any way you can, every dollar counts!
The update from his mother, Fay, after his 8+ hour surgery:
"Joshua has come out of surgery which was successful with respect to repairing the fractured vertebrae. The doctors installed titanium plates and screws to realign and fuse his c4/c5 together. The nerve response testing remained the same from pre-op to during and post op. He has feelings in his upper body and is able to move his left arm. Sensations in his right arm are present but little to no movement currently. He is breathing on his own still. The next few days will really tell what upper body functions he will have. It is most likely that feeling below the waist will not return. We ask for your continued love, support, and prayers that have all been so very precious and heartfelt to us and Joshua. Thank you all individually and as one voice for being so supportive in our family's time of need. He is sore and starting to become more alert."
Today's update (Sept 27):
"Thank you for sending anything uplifting and encouraging!! We're so touched we just break down in tears.. I always read them and I always try to read them to Joshua when he is awake.. today has been a very busy day with all the different doctors and staff/therapists/nurses coming in.. he's still running a fever, and I think bc they switched his pain meds, it's made him seem more down and very tired, plus I'm sure his surgery has a lot to contribute to that. The doctor told us that if Joshua doesn't start moving his arms soon, like within the next two days, he may never have use of them.. they're saying that he'll never walk again. Of course this is all from their medical standpoint and we have Papa Fathers promises that we are believing, standing, expecting and holding onto!! They're beginning the preparations for us to start learning a different life for him that involves how to care for him, use a wheelchair and physical therapy, and what to expect with changes we'll have to make to the home for a wheelchair and handicap needs. Please please please keep praying for him because these next couple days are so critical. They're very concerned and doing everything they can do to make sure no pneumonia will settle into his chest because of the injury to the spine and where the bones broke in his neck that effects that part of his body from it, which is his lungs, basically labored breathing.
And would you please ask everyone to join in on prayer for Joshua at 9, noon and 3pm every day too!"
To all who participate in this fund raiser... Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and God bless you!!!
Sincerely,
Rebecca Riehl
